Hollard is a Gold sponsor of The Insurance Apprentice. Today’s episode is sponsored by CN&CO.

Kicking off the first of the competition videos, which will be aired every Friday, competition judge Theo Pauw, independent chairman of Price Forbes, says: “I think The Insurance Apprentice plays a great role within the industry, but most importantly, it showcases the tremendous talent of the young people that are in the industry at the moment.”

Fellow judge Vuyo Lee, group executive for brand and corporate affairs at MMI Holdings, adds: “What appeals to me about The Insurance Apprentice is that it also gives a learning experience for the applicants themselves, and for them to profile themselves so that people can what talent we have.”

In brief, this is what the eight finalists have to say about themselves:

Alicia Narainsamy (Auto & General): “I believe, sorry, I know I am going to be the next Insurance Apprentice.”

Andre Brooks (Price Forbes): “I think I’ll win The Insurance Apprentice because I’m a team player.”

Celina Bhima (Hollard): “I feel I don’t need to be ruthless; I just need to be myself.”

Chris Caalsen (Ace Insurance): “I believe that The Insurance Apprentice has created a platform for me to demonstrate my out-of-the-box thinking.”

Karabo Kopeka (Hollard): “I believe that I have what it takes to win The Insurance Apprentice.”

Priya Govender (Mutual & Federal): “I am the correct person for The Insurance Apprentice due to my experience, as well as my skill and my qualification.”

Richard Cunliffe (AON Benfield): “Winning would really give me some of the recognition that I feel I deserve for being a real advocate, a real fighter, for the insurance industry.”

Unathi Ntengo (Marsh): “What makes a true leader is someone who’s true to himself, someone who has values such as integrity.”

The first episode concludes with comments by the judges, including Hollard Broker Markets EXCO member Justin Naylor, on the finalists’ first task – and it sounds like they weren’t impressed with their performance. But we’ll all have to wait until next Friday to find out who makes the cut, and who does not …
